Career Development 11 is a full-credit course that is designed to help young people to further understand and manage themselves, to manage their personal lives and resources (money included!), and to develop the ability to organize and shape their careers.

 

Career Development 11 has four modules to be completed. Each module builds on those introduced in Career Development 10.

 

Module 1: Career Awareness

bulletClarify and refine life/work goals through further analysis of self assessment data
bulletDevelop a long term plan by evaluating career and life decisions and using additional career information
bulletApply the knowledge and skills needed to look for and obtain career-related work
bulletApply the knowledge and skills needed to manage the transition to a range of opportunities after high school completion

Module 2: Work Cultures

bulletUnderstand human rights issues in the workplace
bulletInvestigate employee and employer rights and responsibilities
bulletInvestigate the role of unions and other professional organizations
bulletAwareness of issues and resources related to mental health and workplace balance
bulletMake decisions that reflect an understanding of workplace ethics, norms and values

Module 3: Financial Management

bulletMake life/work decisions that balance financial realities
bulletAccess and use resources related to financial management and planning

Module 4: Life Work Portfolio

bulletSelect items for and maintain a LifeWork Portfolio
bulletInclude items to demonstrate growth in knowledge and skills
bulletInclude items which show the development of a career plan
bulletInclude items which show employability

 

Career Development 11 is a hands-on course that involves a lot of in-class work. Attendance is mandatory for success in this course! If time is missed, it is the responsibility of the student to get the missed work.

 

Course Evaluation is as follows:

Term 1: 35

Term 2: 35

Exam:   30

Final    100
