ENGLISH 11

  English 11 rests on the expectation that students will advance their skills in reading and viewing with understanding a wide range of literary, visual, media, and information texts.

  

General Objectives

  a)  the development the student’s skills to think and explore various texts on deeper levels of comprehension and meaning

b) the advancement the student’s skills and strategies in critical thinking, and in the analysis and  systhesis of content and theme 

c) the development of the student’s skills to assess ideas, information, and language, and thus advance their ability to articulate their understanding via literary, visual, or creative mediums

d) the making of meaningful connections between the ideas and information in texts and the student’s own experience

e) the development of writing skills, techniques, and styles

f) research and documentation

All essay assignments and test/examination responses are evaluated according to the criteria specified by the Dept of Education - content, thought, style, organization, detail, thought sequencing, qualification, correctness ( sentence structure, the basic rudiments of language and grammar, writing mechanics).
