A few reminders…

Our room is very warm so dressing in layers will make your child more comfortable.  Winter gear is necessary every day through winter—you never know when the snow will come and they will need those ski pants to play outside.

Remember to record books that you read (that includes your Chime In poems too).  The total books read are recorded for report card use and for the WOW reading program. Our latest winner was Christopher C.

We are counting regularly to 50 now (our big goal is to 100), as well as counting on from different starting points and backwards from 10.  We are also practicing counting by 10’s.  We are looking at size patterns and figuring out and making our own sorting rules.  There has been much graphing going on in class lately—learning to read the graph to see which has more, fewer and how many more by looking at the graph results.

We are still on our animal theme and comparing them to ourselves.  We have completed the needs of the animals and will moving on to their bodies.  We will learn about the purpose of our skeleton and compare our skeleton to the different animal skeletons.

Awesome snow angel making!!  All but one was able to participate and help work towards the Guinness World Record.  It was fun event.

Overview of our regular schedule

Please bring your book bag and your Home/School (black bag) every day.  We start our morning each day checking to see if they have anything to give me (notes, money, etc.).  Our day is pretty routine; we work on language arts in the morning before recess, math after recess and our theme after lunch (out theme will include social studies, science, health, art and of course more language arts and even some math).

Milk money is collected each Thursday ($1.75) and that pays for your child's milk for the following week.  Please make sure your child knows they have the money so they can pass it in when I call their group for milk money.

The breakfast program is for all students.  The students enter the school at the Collin St. door that is closest to the fence.  The students are to exit from there as well.

We enter and dismiss from the doors by the big globe (up the long paved path).

Once school begins, the only door that is open to the public is the door on the Parade St. side.  It is the door that is directly across from the office.  All parents are to check in at the office they need to come into the school.

Don't hesitate to contact me if there are any questions or concerns.  The school number is 749-2860.
