Term 3 Newsletter

 

Welcome back to Term 3!  Some Learning Outcomes for this term include:

Speaking and Listening

  • Explain and support personal ideas and opinions
  • Consider purpose and the needs and expectations of their audience
  • Continue to listen attentively and speak in a manner appropriate to the situation

Reading

  • Read-aloud speaking clearly and with expression
  • Continue to select texts appropriate to their interests and learning needs

Writing

  • Use technology to create, revise, edit and publish texts
  • Produce pieces of writing using a variety of specific forms/audiences
  • Continue to use prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and presentation strategies

Term 3 Focus Lessons:

In April, we will focus on Fables & Tall Tales (3/4) and Fairytales (4/5).  Students will compare/contrast, analyze, develop characters, setting and plot as well as read aloud and dramatize some Readers theatre.

 

In May, we will take a look at Persuasive Writing/Biographies (3/4) and Persuasive Writing/ Non-Fiction (4/5).

 

June finishes our year. We will focus on Technology and the role it plays in Language Arts.

 

Students will complete several in class assignments.  Information will be sent home on one major assignment in May.
