Dear Parents/Guardians:

I would like to welcome you and your child to a new school year at Lockeport Elementary. We have 13 grade two students and 8 grade one students in our class. We will look forward to having a fun filled year of new learning experiences.

Schedule:                                                                                                                      Library Library- Day   (Please try to return books on day .)

Gym - Days 2&3 (Students must have indoor sneakers and should wear loose fitting clothing free of zippers, chains, or anything that will scratch fellow students or the gym floor.)

Music - Days 1&4

Lunch/Snacks: Please provide your child with a snack for recess and a lunch or money to purchase lunch. Students may have a water bottle on their desk during class time if they wish. Hot lunch costs $2.50. Milk is an extra $.35. Please tell your child in the morning whether or not they are buying hot lunch and where their money is.                               We have one student in our class with an allergy to peanuts. Please try not to send snack items that contain peanuts or peanut butter.

Dressing: Please ensure that your child has clean indoor sneakers that they can easily put on and fasten. Your child should be able to put on  their own jacket, ski pants, hat, mittens etc.

Homework & Notices: This year we will be using a homework notebook. Please check your child's notebook daily and sign it to let me know that their homework has been completed. Unfinished work should be finished as soon as possible and returned to me.

Each Tuesday your child will  take home a new book to read, a math home activity pack, and a home journal for writing. Please read with your child on a nightly basis, help them complete the math activity, and encourage them to write in their journal as often as possible. These items should be returned  by Monday of the following week.

Bus Transfers: Please send in bus transfers instead of a note when requesting that your child get dropped off at a different stop or take a different bus at the end of the day.

Recycling: As it is difficult for younger students to wash out containers properly in school, plastic containers such as those for applesauce, pudding, dunkaroos etc. will be sent home in your child's lunch kit.

Class Pets: Our class pet this year is a Teddy Bear hamster named Snowball.  If your child has allergies and this will be a problem please let me know as soon as possible.

Feel free to call me at any time either at school or at home if you have any questions or concerns.

                                                 Sincerely,

                                                Mrs. Morrison
