Due Date:

Choose one of the following projects to demonstrate your knowledge of the dangers of tobacco.

Tobacco Comic Strip

Create a comic strip story that helps teens to realize why they should say NO to tobacco products; you may focus on either chewing tobacco or cigarettes.

Requirements:

  1. Creative Title
  2. 7-8 Body Frames (Must have 6 frames for story line!); can be 2 3’s, or 3 2’s, etc.
    • 3 negative consequences of tobacco (1 physical consequence, 1 addictive consequence, and 1 other consequence) that occur in a realistic timeframe
    • Artistic design: several colors, final-draft-quality drawings
    • Thought bubbles and/or narration boxes to help reader clearly understand story line with proper English, free of spelling and grammar errors.
    • You may use one frame as a title or end.

Tobacco Poster

Create an anti-tobacco poster that includes the Health Canada warning, an original anti-tobacco slogan, and 5 negative consequences of tobacco.

Requirements:

  1. 11x17” poster with a coloured background and drawn-on border
  2. Must include the Health Canada Warning
  3. 5 negative consequences of tobacco (Labeled & Pictured)
    • 3 long-term physical effects
    • 1 effect that shows the addictive nature of nicotine
    • 1 additional effect
  4. An anti-tobacco slogan
  5. A picture or graphic

Tobacco Ad

Alter a tobacco ad to accurately reflect the danger of tobacco products.

Directions:

1.      Cut your 8½ x11” ad in half (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally).

2.      Glue half of the ad onto a sheet of white paper.

3.      Re-draw the other half of the ad, changing at least 3 aspects of it to reflect the dangers of tobacco. Your changes must demonstrate 3:

o        1 physical effect of tobacco

o        1 effect that shows the addictive nature of nicotine

o        1 additional effect of tobacco

4.      Must include the Health Canada warning

5.      Glue the other half of the ad to the back of the paper so that Mr. Roache can compare the original version to your new version.
