Some people say he was free others say he was a salve to the governor of port royal but some just don’t know.

He was the first African  to set foot on Canadian soil
Mathieu Da Costa spoke French, Dutch,Portguese ,and pidgin Basque.
Was born in the Azores and was an interpreter.
He served as an interpreter between the French and the Mic Macs.
He was also a navigator of the African descent.
"He was a former Portuguese..."
He was a former Portuguese slave in the sixteenth century among an expedition from France to Port Royal  and Quebec before 1603/5.

No one really knew what Mathieu Da Costa really looked like.
The first picture we got looks a lot different than the second.
THE LIVING CONDITIONS IN PORT ROYAL.
The conditions were snowing & cold in the winter
You had to build your own house with very few supplies.Around winter the people in the village have a GOOD CHEER party that is for getting their hopes up because the times are bad.It has a lot of food and clean water.So it makes the people in the village feel better about themselves.
