Heart Art
We first completed the “Heart Art” optical illusion art. This
activity explores line and color as the elements of design. Students
first draw hearts on their page (in pencil). Hearts should vary in size
and direction. Students then choose a variety of monochromatic colors.
Using a ruler, they draw lines across the page, being careful to not
draw through the hearts. The closer together the lines are, the
better the optical illusion effect. When the lines have all been drawn,
students go back and fill in the hearts with curved lines. When done
correctly, the hearts should have the optical illusion of rising off the
sheet. Example
