Smarties Unit 6R Test 1 Review
Name____________________
A. You will be given the contents of Zacharys box of Smarties (how many of each colour).
Zachary had 3 red, 4 yellow, 10 brown, 3 blue, Total (3+4+10+3)=20
1. Be able to write a ratio comparing one colour to another, and one colour to the total (not given,
use the data to find). Red to Blue = 3:3,
Yellow to Total = 4:20
2. Be able to calculate the mean, mode, median, maximum, minimum, range, and frequency of the contents.
Mean (20/4)=5, Mode (most) = 3, Median (3,3,4,10)=
3.5, Maximum = 10, Minimum = 3, Range (10-3)=7, F(4)=1, f(3)=2
3. Be able to calculate the percentage of the various colours. Red
(3/20X100)=15%, Brown (10/20X100)=50%
B. Probability:
1. Which two numbers probability is between or on. 0 and 1
2. Know which number is impossible and which is certain. 0 means impossible and
1 means certain.
3. Given raw data be able to make a tally, and give probability of each colour
as a fraction, decimal, and percentage to 0.1. If the above was the tally then
Red would be: fraction 3/20, decimal 0.15, percentage 15%
4. Given the actual numbers of the contents give probability of each colour as a
fraction, decimal, and percentage to 0.1. Using the above data then Yellow would
be: fraction 4/20, decimal 0.2, percentage 20%
5. Given a circle, colour in the correct sections and answer a question on fair
game. A fair game is were each player has an equal chance of winning. If the
answer is a shape then the spinner below is not
a fair game because there are two rhombi and
only one of each square, trapezoid, or triangle. 6. Using the circle give probability of each colour as a fraction, decimal, and percentage. P(landing on Square): fraction 1/5, decimal 0.2, percentage 20% P(landing on Rhombus): fraction 2/5, decimal 0.4, percentage 40% P(landing on Rhombus or Triangle): fraction 3/5, decimal 0.6, percentage 60% 7. Fill in the blanks on probability. The probability of landing on square, triangle, rhombus, trapezoid is certain. The probability of landing on circle is impossible. If 4 people were each given a different shape it would not be a fair game because one person has a 2/5 chance and everyone else has a 1/5 chance. |
