- William Nelson Hall was the first black person, first Nova Scotian and
third Canadian to get the Victoria Cross award.
- William Hall was born at
Summerville, Nova Scotia, April 25th , 1827 and died 1904 at
age 77 in Avonport, Nova Scotia.
- William hall was the son of Jacob and Lucy Hall and they escaped from
American slave owners in Maryland during the war of 1812.
