- Became the first Black Canadian concert singer to win international
renown.
- In honor ,a monyment in her birthplace at Truro N.S. and a film
documentary (Think on me).
- Portia White was asked to perform for Queen Elizabeth II , at the
opening of the Confederation Center of arts in Charlottetown, Prince
Edward Island, in 1964. This was to be one of her last major concerts.
- Debuts-She made a debut in 1944 in New York City and in Toronto in 1941.
- She had a postage stamp made with her face on it.

- In my opinion I never herd any of her music but in the research we found
it sounds like a lot of people liked her and she had a lot of
goals.-Kayla’s opinion.
- In my opinion I think that she had a very good life because most kids
back then had to work very hard and not a lot of them got to go to
school and she seems very important.-Brittany’s opinion.
