The indenture system is a kind of contract that
people of white and black |
are forced into signing.Sometimes masters would
trick people, who could |
not read by promising a short term contract, as
a servant but instead of |
promsing a short trem as a servant the masters
Would have written a much |
longer contract for 39 years or more. The so
called servant were supposed |
to get a payment such as land or money, but
somehow the owners would |
find a way of releasing the so called servants,
before the time was up, so |
the owners will not have to pay the payment of land of money. Some |
slaves were made to sign a contract that would
allow their masters to beat |
them and force them into doing things. |
The living conditions are the same as the |
slaves way of living. You either worked in the |
masters house or a plantation. |

Slavery-The condition or fact of being a slave. |
Many African Negroes were captured and |
sold into slavery. |
The living conditions of being a slave were |
Brutal. You are forced to cook and clean the |
masters home. If not, you worked in a factory |
or plantation with other back slaves. And was |
punished with a whip. Also you are not paid for
your |
hard work and were not freed at all. |
Differences |
Slaves were not paid for |
their hard work and not |
to be freed. Indentured |
people, you signed a |
contract for a period of |
Time and then paid at the |
end. Usually your master |
would find a way to release |
you before your time was up. |
Similarities |
Both worked on |
plantations, farms, |
factories and the masters |
home. You basically |
cooked and clean and |
brutally punished for |
your mistakes. |

Mr. Roache gave us for indenture, slavery and |

living conditions. |
