It is decorated with apples , candy , nuts , cookies , cars , trains , angels ,
tinsels , family treasures , and candles or lights. |

The tree is decorated on Christmas eve. |

They sing a special song before opening
presents. |

The Santa has another name in Germany,Santa is
called Christkind. |
|
|
|
|
The traditional food in Germany is roast duck
with apple prune stuffing. |
|
Today we brought in homemade gingerbread cookies
which Germany is famous for. |
|
|

|

|
2 ½ tablespoons of golden syrup. |
|
½ cups of butter. |
|
½ cups of brown sugar. |
|
1 egg yolk. |
|
2 cups of flour. |
|
Level teaspoon of baking soda. |
|
3 level teaspoons of ground ginger. |
|
Dash of cinnamon ,optional. |
|
Extra flour for rolling pastry. |
|
A little icing. |
|

|
Stand container of golden syrup in hot water so
often. Beat the butter and sugar to cream, than beat the egg yolk. Beat in
syrup. Slowly add flour, baking soda, and an optional dash of cinnamon. |
|
With floury hands kneed dough. Wrap in plastic,
and place in fridge for one hour, making it easier to roll out. |
|
Brush flour on the rolling pin and under the
dough. Roll to and even 10mm(1/3 inch) thick, and cut out shapes. |
|
Place on greased tray about two cm (3/4 inch)
apart and bake in a moderately slow oven (180 degrees c 350 degrees f) for
about 12 minutes. Leave for a few minutes and remove with a spatula
decorate and injoy. |

The Christmas season begins with a Advent
Wreath. On December 6 the children in Germany leave out a pair of shoes and
if there good St. Nicolas will leave candy and if there bad he will leave
twigs. This celebration is called St. Nicolas Eve. |
