Electricity Test One Review 6R
I. Be able to match the following:
1. Current Electricity - is electricity that is moving and flowing in wires.
2. A Circuit - is an unbroken pathway along which electrons can flow.
3. Incomplete Circuit - the path for the electricity to flow has been broken.
4. A Complete Circuit - the electrical current flows in a complete circle.
5. A Closed Circuit - is an example of a complete circuit except that a switch
has been added.
6. An Open Circuit - in this case the switch is open and the circuit is
incomplete.
II. Be prepared to fill in the missing word(s):
7. Electricity is made up of moving electrons.
8. Electricity must have a complete circuit if it is to be used.
9. A switch is used to open and close circuits.
10. More than one cell connected in series will give more power than a single
cell.
11. More than one cell connected in parallel will give longer life than a single
cell.
12. Lights in our homes are wired in Parallel.
13. Some materials, particularly metals, carry electricity better than others.
These materials are called good conductors.
14. A short circuit occurs when the current can flow through an easy short cut
instead of going through the regular circuit.
15. A fuse (or circuit breaker) protects us from damage due to short circuits,
or from using too much electricity at the same time.
III. Draw symbols for each of the following:
16. a bulb in a holder
17. a battery (cell)
18. two wires crossing but not joined
19. two wires crossing and joined
IV. Draw a picture for each of the following:
20. A complete circuit
21. An incomplete circuit
22. A closed circuit
23. An open circuit
V. Label this battery's parts.
VI. Label the parts of this flashlight and draw the flow of electricity.
